John Quincy Adams was the sixth President of the United States (1825-29). He is credited with popularizing the use of yard signs in political campaigns. During the 1824 presidential election (26th Oct - 2nd Dec 1824) he used yard signs to promote his candidacy and spread his message to voters. - This practice quickly caught on and has become a staple of American politics ever since.
