Celebrating World Environment Day 2024 with Sustainable Fashion

Subtitle: Navigating the Complexities of Sustainable Fashion - PoM's Commitment to a Greener Future

DigiPM-20240603 ... in celebration of World Environment Day 2024, (5th June 2024), we at PoM - Peace of Mind ... Happy Life! are excited to align with this year’s theme: "Land Restoration, Desertification, and Drought Resilience."

As an emerging eco-brand, PoM embraces the principles of the circular economy and strives to minimize environmental impact through innovative, eco-friendly materials and practices.

Our commitment reflects our dedication to the global goals of the World Environment Day 2024 !

The Importance of Sustainable Fashion

Sustainable fashion is a crucial step toward reducing the environmental footprint of the clothing industry. - Unlike fast fashion, which often leads to significant waste and environmental harm, our Print on Demand (PoD) model reduces waste and emphasizes eco-friendly materials.
    • PoM’s Eco-Friendly Product Line

Since our launch in spring 2024, PoM - Peace of Mind ... Happy Life! has been dedicated to creating products that support sustainability.

Our collections feature items made from 100% organic cotton, recycled polyester, and vegan leather, all designed to reduce environmental impact:

    • Organic Cotton: A Sustainable Choice

100% Organic cotton, used in our t-shirts, hoodies or caps, is grown without harmful pesticides and synthetic fertilizers.

This sustainable choice supports healthier soil and reduces water usage, contributing to drought resilience. However, it still requires substantial water resources, highlighting the need for efficient water management practices.

    • Recycled Polyester: Turning Waste into Wearables

Our polyester fabrics, made from recycled plastic, showcase the transformation of waste into valuable products.

Unisex Sweatshirt (EcoSmart® Crewneck, fleece-lined, cotton & recycled plastic, 5 sizes)  Hoodie with fleece inside - Unisex Sweatshirt (EcoSmart®, 50% cotton, with recycled plastic, 5 sizes)  Black Hoodie with fleece inside - Unisex Sweatshirt (EcoSmart®, 50% cotton, with recycled plastic, 5 sizes) Media 1 of 4  Unisex Cruiser Hoodie (Kangaroo pocket, heavy fabric: organic cotton + recycled plastic, 10 sizes, up to 12 colours)

Unisex Stanley Stella T-Shirt (100% organic cotton, 10 sizes, 13 colours)      Streeter Hoodie Dress (85% organic cotton, 15% recycled polyester, medium-heavy fabric)   Men's Cultivator Zip Hoodie (organic cotton, recycled polyester, heavy fabric, 4 colors + 5 sizes)

This practice using recycled polyester (e.g. from plastic bottles) for cotton-polyester fabrics not only reduces plastic pollution but also conserves resources, aligning with World Environment Day principles.

Despite its benefits, concerns about micro-plastic pollution persist, necessitating ongoing research into more sustainable recycling methods.

    • Vegan Leather: Ethical and Sustainable

Our vegan leather products offer an animal-friendly alternative without compromising quality. Made from sustainable materials,

Women's Satchel Bag (3x prints on front/back + 2x sides: Japanese Tea Ceremony)

These products support land restoration by reducing the demand for animal agriculture, a significant driver of de-forestation.

Yet we are aware that PU-based vegan leather, while reducing animal suffering, is derived from fossil fuels and can contribute to plastic pollution. - PoM is actively exploring more sustainable options, such as plant-based leathers.
